REM Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated full time Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer

REM Services, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated senior level electrical & instrumentation designer / engineer to lead our E&I design team in Charlotte, NC. The primary functions for this position are:

  • Control systems hardware, instrumentation and electrical design activities
  • E&I design efforts for control system migrations to state of the art technologies
  • Buss segment design
  • Lead a team to execute capital projects and accomplish project goals
  • Mentor / train junior level engineers

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Design control system panel hardware layouts; includes developing bill of materials; heat dissipation calculations, defining environmental constraints, defining appropriate components for design
  • Design control system panel electrical circuits; includes AC & DC power circuits, power loading calculations, circuit sizing
  • Design buss instrumentation segments; includes Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, ASi, Profibus and serial communications technologies
  • Design activities in support of migration of legacy control systems to the DeltaV BPCS platform; includes process instrumentation & control system electrical wiring modifications; control panel modifications; assessment of physical demolition & installation requirements; power & grounding modifications
  • Design communications network architecture; includes defining appropriate network components & cabling
  • Modification or creation of P&ID’s, loop sheets, motor elementary drawings, IO list, cable schedules, interconnection drawings and schematics
  • Lead the E&I team in order to accomplish project goals per the above listed responsibilities; includes making day-to-day work assignments for E&I team members
  • Support customer site cutover activities
  • Troubleshoot control system equipment and field instrumentation

 

 Required Qualifications Include:

  •  Minimum of two (2) year technical associates degree in electrical engineering discipline or equivalent certification from an accredited trade school
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant facilities experience in a manufacturing environment that includes instrumentation and/or electrical design/engineering work responsibilities
  • United States Citizen with valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical drawings, installation & operations manuals and specifications
  • Fluent in English Language – written & verbal; good communicator
  • Proficient in using computers, peripherals and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions / procedures to complete tasks and required documentation
  • Ability to document field modifications
  • Ability to work in an environment requiring a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities
  • Strong team player
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Organized and able to develop/utilize templates and/or standards
  • Ability to perform activities that may require climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and crawling; work may be performed inside and outside; includes being exposed to extreme heat, noise, vibration, mechanical hazards, electrical hazards, chemical hazards, atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin
  • Ability to wear required PPE without limitations
  • Regular travel (50%) within NC & SC; Infrequent travel outside of NC & SC


Desired Qualifications Include:

  •  Ability to utilize maintenance software for the purpose of troubleshooting control systems and/or instrumentation
  • Experienced with various control systems such as PROVOX, RS3, DeltaV, Honeywell, ABB, Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc…
  • Familiarity with using AutoCAD and/or Micro Station software
  • Expert in using MS Excel and/or MS Access software
  • Experience leading project team in the above noted activities
  • Ability to create maintenance specifications
  • Familiar with using test instruments including voltmeter, ampmeter and ohmmeter

Familiar with instrumentation calibration methodologies
